In this three part epilogue to the Sinestro Corps, we find the third and fourth order of effects of the laws enacted by the Guardians—two allow lethal force to members of the Sinestro Corps.
The ethical dilemma ensues—when is it legal to kill a member of the Sinsestro Corps? Is it murder to kill on sight? Is it ok to kill in self defense? If Lethal Force is authorize in Last Resort…what does that mean?
We see that the Guardians hand this duty of judgment to the Alpha Lanterns.
Looking like “Gas Masked Green Lanterns” the Alpha Lanterns are part Green Lantern and Part Man-hunter (machines). Their mission is to judge completely impartially–and their judgments are final. Which leads to another question regarding leaving the judgment in the hands of a small group of people. Is this something that we eant to see in any government of any organization? Is there any hope for the appeals process? Does this not go against one of the founding principle of the United States of America–and thereby unacceptable to me?
During this three part arc we the development of the background stories leading to “The Blackest Night”
While these issues are interesting, they serve as great background leading into the Blackest Night series, as the unfold the reasons behind certain activities and trends that foreshadow the now current series.
