There is always a myth surrounding the place meant of thermometers outside.
There is this theory out there that one is not supposed to put a themometer in direct sunlight.
One manufactor says:
Do not place the thermometer or the outdoor sensor in direct sunlight, or it will give erroneous
readings.
I disagree strongly. If I put a thermometer outside, it is because I want to know how hot it is outside. I’m going to be in direct sunlight–believe me direct sunlight is much different that in the shade. So, the thermometer should be in the direct sunlight, only then will I truly know how hot I am when I walk outside.
Because, I’m sorry, the thermometer says 115 in the shade–but it is 140 in the direct sunlight with the hot wind blowing on my face cooking it at 300 degrees farenheight.Â
I feel like a steak. Dinner anyone?

My husband is a Marine and has served in Iraq. He appreciates all the chaplains there!!
We lived in the dry desert of Yuma, AZ and just moved to the hot and humid state of North Carolina. I always say whether you put your head in an oven by itself or with a pot of water you are still gonna get cooked 🙂 Hot is hot and it is hot for sure in Iraq!
Take care, and God bless!

So true. We have a digital “weather station” here, and it always reads that it is going to rain. The Misses now believe that this machine has no idea about the weather, especially since the last week has been sunny with no clouds in sight. I have always thought that being a weather person was an easy job. Hot and dry for you, evidently sunny with a chance of rain for me.
You gave me a smile today. Thank you.
