As part of Saturday’s Pokémon Community Day, I also began my McDonald’s City Challenge for Wiesbaden, Germany. The McDonald’s City Challenge is the attempt to visit all of the McDonald’s Restaurants in the area. Wiesbaden should be an easy one to do—but I must be done before we leave in June, so I’ve got to get it all done soon!
I began the challenge with the easiest McDonald’s for me to visit, Wiesbaden Downtown McDonald’s. This McDonald’s is placed on the main shopping street in downtown Wiesbaden in a small plaza that in the winter is used for a Christmas Market and in the Summer is set up to be a Summer Market. This continues to verify my traveling philosophy that if you need to find your way around a new town, especially overseas, find the McDonald’s. They are typically in the high traffic areas of the town you are visiting.
The Wiesbaden Downtown McDonald’s is a very nice two-story corner building that is also adjacent to a alleyway where they have a pick-up window. My favorite place to go at this McDonald’s is upstairs where I can eat and watch the activities below. My youngest daughter, Jenny, enjoys going with me and spending some time drawing while looking out over the activities. It is a place we have visited several times.
On Saturday’s meal, I broke from my normal pattern of a Big Mac Combo with fries and Diet Coke to enjoy some curly fries that were offered. The curly fries came with a sour cream and chives dip which was very tasty and a big treat. Before you think of sour cream as odd, think back to the last time you had a baked potato—sour cream was probably offered as a topping. So, the concept is similar.
The visit here as always was a pleasant one. The restaurant was busy, especially on the first floor, but enjoyable in the seating area upstairs. I look forward to going back several times while we are in Wiesbaden.
