I like “Graphic Novels”. Not to buy them in bulk, but as resource to understand the stories better.Â
My wife sent me the Graphic Novel “Superman: Birthright”, which I read while I was here. I was able to enjoy several comic books in one package. I enjoyed getting more information about Superman and the storyline is a useful reference, especially while I have little access to other stories.Â
While I have been out here, I have also read “Identity Crisis” and will soon be reading “Power Girl”. I would not have bought all of those issues individually. In the case of Power Girl, it would probably be close to impossible to even find them all. But, through the graphic novel, I can get all of the important stories in one volume. Last year, I bought the first of the “Superman/Batman” series as a graphic novel. I did go back and buy them in comic book form, but it gave me an opportunity to start to understand the storyline of Superman/Batman without having to find the first six comics at a Comic Book Store.
If you have never read a graphic novel pick one up–they are a good start to reading comic books and understanding characters of other comic books.
