My family have been watching the new NBC Show “Little Big Shots”. “Little Big Shots” is a variety show where young children perform and entertain. Occasionally, there will be a child from another country who does not speak English. In this case, the host brings in an interpreter to communicate with the child and bring their story to the audience.
In many ways we need an interpreter to communicate with God. In our sin and shortcomings, we cannot communicate to God without help. While God knows our need, we have difficulty communicating these needs without the help of an interpreter to intercede on our behalf. The Bible teaches that God has provided the Holy Spirit to do just that.
Romans 8 says: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:26-28 ESV)
Isn’t it good to know that nothing stands in the way of our communication with God. Through the Holy Spirit, we can bring our prayers to him and can communicate our needs to him. As you pray today, thank God for the Holy Spirit who intercedes for you.
