I am appalled. I am disappointed. And, I am offended.
I am appalled. April’s Batman 663 contains a book…with words. I don’t have a problem with books with words, but that is NOT why I buy comic books. I read enough during the day that I don’t desire a short story inside a comic book cover. I am still in shock. If DC was trying something new…a new innovative concept, it didn’t work. I have no problem with thinking “out of the box”, but there are some things that have to stay in the box…like caption bubbles and panels. These items define a comic book. I simply can not believe they did this. I hope they NEVER try it again.
I am disappointed. There are certain expectations one has when a person picks up a comic book. I have these expectations, every time. Do you blame me? If I order chicken, I don’t want it to taste like a steak.  When I opened up this issue of Batman, I was disappointed, I truly have no desire of reading it. I may read it–I really don’t care to because I have enough real comic books to read. I was disappointed and let down that they tried this new format, for no reason at all. I wish I hadn’t wasted my money.
I am offended. Why did DC publish this book? Do they actually think that I need to read more books and that they could be the guiding force to teach me to read? I have a Master’s Degree, if I want to read a book, and I read plenty, I will go to a place called a book store. In these places there are shelves filled with books that don’t have panels or caption bubbles, most don’t even have pictures.  To think that this is some sort of break-through is absolutely crazy.
Needless to say, Batman 663 is the worst comic book ever…and I haven’t even read it.

I totally agree. I was total disappointed when I opened the issue and found a book. If I wanted to read a book I’d buy books. I’m a comicbook collector. It was a total waste of money and time.
