While I have traveled over the last week and have now internet working in my apartment, I am very thankful for some very useful electronics that I have used while traveling.
Probably the best investment that I have made was in subscribing to T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan that allows me to use data overseas at no additional cost. While I thought I would have to get a Korean phone and account, I soon realized that this was not at all necessary. While the data only is 2G, this is enough to connect to my family through the Skype app and also being able to keep up through texting. This has been more than enough to keep connected. The biggest problem we have being connected, now, is the near opposite time zones.
I have also been very pleased with my Nike+ Watch by Tom-Tom. Nike no longer sells this watch, but this watch made an instant switch to the Asian location. I have been able to use this watch from the very first run here, with little to no wait time as the watch search for satellites. Tobe honest, it works better here than I remember it working in the States.
The final electronic that I have been very happy with is my new Bose Noise Cancelling Earphones. Monica bought these for me as an anniversary gift before my trip and I am truly thankful that she did. Primarily for the 13-hour airplane ride, the noise cancelling feature lessened the aircraft sounds to the degree that they minimized my anxiety level as the plane took off and landed. This may not seem to be a big deal, but for me it meant all the difference as I embarked on a very long travel day. On the ground, they have also been nice to have to listen to music in close quarters. The sound quality is amazing and to listen to music through them is incredibly relaxing.
These three gadgets have made the trip incredibly easy and I am so happy that I included them in my travel bag.
