I love waffles. It could be Belgian waffles, regular waffles, or just frozen Eggos. Waffles are a favorite breakfast of mine. More and more, I see that waffles are much more than just a breakfast food.
I grew up with waffles on special Saturday mornings and even now, Monica will make waffles on special and relaxing Saturdays. A waffle covered in syrup is an amazing way to start the day. But, there is even more to waffles than I remembered.
Chicken and Waffles is a dish that I began noticing more and more the last couple of years that I had to try. And, I am glad I did. To cover a plate of chicken and waffles with syrup and enjoy this dish is every bit worth the calories that you consume.
Then, I discovered Waffles and Ice Cream. I went for a walk, yesterday afternoon, to the ice cream shop. I sat down for a scoop and noticed inside the display a mock up of a waffle treat they serve. The mock up contained a waffle topped with two scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, strawberries, and chocolate drizzle. Even though it was a plastic mock up—the sheer idea of an ice cream covered waffles was definitely tempting!
I am continually amazed by the variations that have emerged from waffles. Until yesterday’s walk, I did not pay too much attention to these variations—but I find that the is a world of waffles waiting to be discovered.
