Most mornings, especially lately, I’ve been waking up and working out. I wake up roughly at 4am and go for a two or three mile run. Some days, I will workout a little later and do a HIIT workout about 6am or take a late run on a Saturday or holiday. But those runs are typically longer, and I ride the bus back. Today, however, was a rest day.
Rest days are hard because I really want to get out and run. But, I’ve been working out extra heavily and my colleague, who know what they are doing better than I, gave me specific instructions to rest. And yes, I need to recover. So, I’ve done nothing today—except my normal going to work and walking around the workplace. I will look forward to tomorrow when I will wake up and workout.
I’m a little bit in an in-between stage with working out. It is too hilly to run longer distances and there isn’t as much time in the mornings either. The is no gym nearby, so I used the gym on post after a drive or during my lunch break. And full-on HIIT is too noisy for the neighbors. So, I run (yes), I lift during lunch, and I choose “low impact” HIIT training. Soo, I will PCS to a place. Hopefully, near a Planet Fitness. There I can finally structure a workout with the right tools and according to my needs.
This will help me to truly wake up and workout nearly every day—except rest days.
