Do you use drink coasters?
I have noticed that drink coasters are getting harder and harder to find. Is it because everyone has enough already? Is it because people are using papers and other stuff as coasters? Is it because they are not used?
Why is it so hard to find coasters? I hear about paperweights, but I never hear about coasters. Coasters do not change because of technology—or, at least, they haven’t yet. Paperweights not needed because more and more things are going paperless. The need for coasters, however, is great.
Drink coasters are rubber, cork, or stone flat shaped mat to place your drinks. They protect the furniture from ring marks on the finish to water damage to the table itself. The most important use, in my mind, is that they absorb the condensation from pooling on the desk and ruining the papers that are there. I always have to have a coaster.
The problem we experienced recently was trying to find replacement coasters for our living room. We used some stone coasters for several years, but as the kids got older and more active, the coasters began to break against the hard tile floor. Needless to say, I do not recommend stone coasters. As we began to look for new coasters, we discovered a challenge. Most stores did not carry coasters or hid them. When we did find the coasters, they were terribly unattractive. We finally found the ones we wanted on Amazon.com.
As important as coasters are to the world, why are they so hard to find?!?
