I was first going to write a simple little post about what was on my desk right now—I actually may get to that next week or so. But, in order to get started on that post, I wanted to take a picture of my little desk with my iPhone. And then discuss the items on my desk.
Then the idea struck me: Do you understand how odd that is? I want to take a picture of desk with my phone. Why is that so odd? Only because it was not that long ago that we used a phone for only talking. It wasn’t that long ago when you only checked your phone for messages…and just a little bit before that, you checked your answering machine for messages…and just a little before that you wrote notes for messages.
Now, of course, I spend more time on my phone than I do on my computer. Because my phone is a computer. I can write emails, post updates to Facebook, listen to music and books, play games, and so much more.
I’m writing this post, not necessarily to prove how old I am—or feel—but to look back and to be thankful for where we have come from. So much of our lives has changed dramatically, and so much is set to change even more. Over the next year, I see the predictions of more changes ahead. It is moving to the land of the Jetsons. It is fun and the phones are useful—but our world has changed…sometimes we just need to recognize it and move with it.
