Along the side of Interstate 10, between El Paso, TX and Las Cruses, NM is the “Largest Antique Store in the Southwest”. I don’t know if that is true, but it was worth it to stop in. Every trip that I’ve made to or through Las Cruses has made me desire to visit this antique store more and more. Yesterday, as I returned home from my Quarterly Review, I took some time to stop in.
While I wasn’t really in the market for anything in particular, I didn’t take home anything either. The place is big…really big. It doesn’t have the nice antique furniture that I would see in some of the Southeast Antique stores. Actually, I didn’t see much furniture at all. There were many wood stoves and old appliances. There was a lot of junky type things—things that one could use to decorate with. They had a huge collection of juke boxes—if your in the market. One entire large section has old records; so that is a place to get some antique LPs.It was worth the hour I spend rummaging through and I’ll visit back, to see if they get something new in. I did like the paintings and photos available throughout—but would never buy it for lack of place to bring it home to.
I enjoyed my visit, even though I didn’t find any treasures to bring home and I was kinda freaked out by the dressed mannequins seated in various places, around corners, and tucked in crowded spots around the building. I jumped several times at the unexpected appearances.
