I like to read Wizard Magazine. I know for many this is heresy–I know–I know. But, I am always able to access Wizard, somehow, where ever I am. As a matter of fact, the issue I reading was bought a Hohenfels, Germany during the training exercise that I’m involved in–pretty heavily involved in, I’m busier than normal.
Many times there are great articles about comic books in the magazine. Despite there over coverage of “other-than-comic-book-stuff”, I do appreciate the ability to be up to date on things. The November issue is one of those very good issues. Issues like this one always makes me want to subscribe. But then I buy next month’s…and it will be bad. Then I’ll try again the next month…it will be bad too. So, I stop buying the magazine. This is until, I am out somewhere and I have nothing to do–and I’ll buy it. This time I got lucky.Â
It is a shame that Wizard, with all of its experience and credibility, can not be more consistent.

I meant to post this clarification sooner, since it dawned on me pretty quickly after submitting the above comment and re-reading it, that I read that New X-Men preview in Wizard in the *December 2003* issue. Now for anyone else trying to track it down, that’ll get you a little closer, I think.

I know what you mean about Wizard; I’ve had the same up-and-down level of enjoyment from it over the years. But reading your entry did remind me of the time I picked up the issue (December 2004? I’ve searched and can’t find the info online) with the longish New X-Men preview (Morrison & Silvestri) and it was the first time I’d read Morrison’s X-Men. At the time I was taking a long break from picking up comics regularly, but that was soon to change and I think the Wizard preview had a lot to do with it.
The final thing that got me back into comics pretty solidly was Waid & Ross on Kingdom Come. I never read Waid’s follow up, Kingdom, and from what I hear I’m better off leaving it alone.
