James Matthew Andrews, father of James Ellis Andrews was born on March 24, 1868 to Robert and Sarah Andrews in Escambia County, Florida. Interestingly enough, his sister, Marcella, was born two years prior in Georgia. Historical speaking, the civil war had recently ended and reconstruction had begun.
On December 21, 1893, he married Annie Grace Shepherd. He was 25 years old, she was 24. They were married by a lawyer, teacher, and preacher named James M. Tate.
The 1900, 1920, and 1930 census states that James Andrews was a farmer. The couple was able to lease their land on Turpentine Road a couple of times as well. He died on December 10, 1930.
