My wife is a very patient woman…and supportive.
It is amazing how she manages to keep her mouth shut when I have a “good idea.”
During last week’s time without power, there was no coffee. I had some at work, but she had none. In a heroic effort to bring her coffee, I had a great idea! I would simply put a glass pot of water in the dashboard of my truck and warm it right up! After all one can bake cookies in the car, shouldn’t it be easy to warm up some water. It didn’t work. She let it go.
It reminded me of the time when I tried to rescue the melted chocolate bunnies from the car. I thought that you could just microwave them and melt them into any shape you want—or pour it over ice cream. Again, she kept her mouth closed…even though it burnt to a crisp.
This morning, she did speak up. I really wanted to go running this morning. Nothing was going to stop me. So, I got in the car and drove to the state park—ignoring the occasional lightening flashes (in the distance). I sat in the parking lot while a downpour passed. So, I thought it was over. So, I jumped out of the car, when it began to rain again…even harder. My trail was blocked by a tree downed by Hurricane Irene, so I turned around to go another route. Soon, the lightening began to begin and I said; “I’m really get in trouble if I get hit.” So, I turned back around after running a half mile.
I walked in the door, very proud of myself for braving the elements, and she said; Keith! You’re soaked.” And that was all…so I went up and took a shower thankful that I have a supportive wife regardless of what “good idea” I may come up with.

A “good” wife is a “patient” wife, indeed!
