The week began with a delightful trip to YogerPresso for coffee. I wore my blue KC Royals cap on this trip, so I guess it was important to show that off!
In Uijeongbu, there is a street dedicated to a soup called “Army Stew” or GI Soup. This soup is made from Ramen noodles, vegetables and Spam. Originally, it was made from surplus, or black market, from the nearby Army camps. Our office went out for supper to experience this dish that Uijeongbu is known for.
It was a short work week this week, so everyday becomes a flurry of activity. At the end of the day, Tuesday, I realized that no phot had been taken. I quickly took a picture of my bedside table, showing off all the electronics I have close by. Two phones (one not pictured—it was taking the photo), my Kindle (typically I have my iPad nearby as well, but I must have really been tired!), and my Bose noise-canceling headphones.
Wednesday, was the last day of the week. I was able to come home and put on my Rockport slippers. They are wonderful in the winter.
Friday, was Veteran’s Day. It took a moment to stop by the museum and remember the Soldiers that came before in years passed. Many people think of the Korean War as “The Forgotten War”. In some ways, I would agree. Not much in mentioned about that war between World War II and the Vietnam War. It was a monumental effort to keep this country free from Communism and oppression. I think often of the reminders, 30 miles North of here, of what a people without democracy looks like.
