The weather got significantly colder this week, to the extent that tomorrow we expect a 17-degree morning, so it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
On Monday, I walked across post for lunch at the DFAC. I arrived late after some delays, so by the time I was leaving, it was only myself and a few others still in the typically busy facility.
Tuesday, I was reminded how much I enjoy reading the Bible by following my reading guide. It is so nice to grab my blanket in the morning, prop my feet up, and read for the day gets going.
Wednesday, Camp Red Cloud celebrated Christmas by lighting the Christmas Tree and light at the Division Headquarters. I love to see the lights at night. It reminds me that, yes, it is Christmas time and not just a cold day of the year. Without family around, it is hard to remember it is even Christmastime at all. The lights are a welcome distraction from the normalcy of our work.
I received a couple of packages on Thursday. In the package was pictures drawn by the kids, some snacks, and this little clip board calendar that Monica made to help me countdown the days until I’m back with them.
Friday night was pizza night! I went to a local pizza place that baked their pizza in a brick oven. It was an excellent pizza where we ate two and followed up by visiting a nearby coffee shop. It was a great way to end the week.
