I picked this book up somewhere along the way–it may have been at the PX or it may have been at the MWR building in Iraq. Anyway, it was my only “Free Comic Book Day” book of last year. Not that I go out and support this national holiday, but it was nice to be reminded that there is life outside of Iraq.
Archie is always a quick read and more humor than story. I think, however, that he has his place in the comic stores. And I hope that they do well. It is nice to see some squeeky clean comics–no violence, no crime…just High School Drama.Â
There will come a day where I will bring my children to the comic book store to pick up their Archie Comic.

It’s the only comic my son reads regularly, although Jughead is his favorite character.
I think Archie does pretty well because it’s one of the few comics that can be found outside of comics stores – i.e. Target, Long’s Drugs and even Safeway supermarkets.
