We read the headlines about preparing for the disasters of the future—hurricanes, forest fires, tsunamis, tornadoes, earthquakes… We pay no attention to the day that is coming, are you prepared for THAT day?
Malachi 4:1-6 says,
“For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” (Malachi 4:1, ESV)
There is a day coming. We don’t talk about it much. We go about our days as if we have tomorrow. As if we are the masters of our future and that future depends on us–or on circumstances. But…we forget.
There is a day coming.
For the evildoers. For the arrogant. They will be set afire.
Why don’t we listen to this warning? We know it’s coming–we may deny it; but I think deep down we all know that it is true. Our bodies long for it. Our bodies anticipate it.
When we hear of it, we are alert and on guard. That is how we are made.
But we continue to deny. We continue to live as nothing was about to occur. What if we did nothing to prepare for the hurricane?
There is a day coming. Are you prepared?
