I woke up this morning and ran six miles in fourteen degree weather. It has definitely become cold in Korea—the cold everyone warned me about. That cold did not keep me from a great week, however.
On Monday night, I enjoyed a cup of hot chocolate, topped off with Marshmallow Bits that Monica sent me in a care package. These little bits add just the right touch.
Tuesday, I worked late. Later than usual, and as I was walking out—almost predictably, the phone rang. This is the story of my life—and pretty much my job, is to be ready to answer the phone at any moment and answer any question in any moment.
Braving the cold on Wednesday night, I had to get out of the room and, frankly, off of the installation for a moment—to get fresh air and to write. I visited a local coffee shop and sat down to write letter and in my journal. I love to journal—and I try to keep it as current as possible, but I always enjoy the time when I can simply enjoy the process of writing in side that little book.
Another moment of writing happens at night when I write a story about the day in my “1 Day: Today is Special” book. While I was writing, I realized that I had not taken my Instagram photo that day, so I reflected on the moment. I thought about how, on many days, I begin and end my day in the same chair, with the same blanket, and either reading or writing something.
I end the week with a photo of my m&m jar on my desk. This jar was a gift from Monica on my second deployment to Iraq and has sat on my desk ever since. Thanks to a care package from my Sunday School class, I was able to fill the jar with Christmas m&m’s on Friday. It was a good end to a good week.
