I have a book back in Kansas titled “No One Cares What You Had for Lunch“. It was the first and, even now, is the most useful blogging book that I have ever bought. It was written in the early days of blogging and definitely my early days of blogging in 2006. The book provides the reader of interesting blog topics to begin to build content into your blog. While it is a good book, I sometimes disagree with the title. I would agree that no one does care what you had for lunch after every meal. As I think about it, I am sure there are some blogs that have been successful doing just that. The truth of the matter is, however, that back when blogs were in their infancy all people would write about was their lunch because they had nothing else to say and they had photos of nothing else.
The idea was to keep the blog interesting with different content. After 10 and a half years of blogging, I still don’t know exactly what my voice is or even what my niche is. I could probably just find one and write about it, but that would not be fulfilling at all. I write this personal blog. There really isn’t a niche, which completely violates the trending rules for blogging. I write for myself, primarily, which is another violation of the rules. I also post daily…which is another violation of the trending rules. If you read this blog, I hope that you would see once and awhile what I had for lunch—and I probably need to post more of those types of posts more. As I further define where I want this blog to go, I think I need to revisit the topics in books like the one above and simply write more, with more variety about what my life looks like.
So, I invite you to come travel with me, stop by, comment, email me if you want. I would love to have you along, to read what I am doing, what I am thinking about, and if the opportunity arises—what I had for lunch.
