This weekend, I traveled from Iraq, to Kuwait, to Kentucky. I am incredibly happy to be home. Soon, I will be getting to the comic book store in Nashville and rebuilding my collection from the past year.
When I came home, I was looking forward to seeing a stack of books that I had subscribed to. I had subscribed to “Infinite Crisis” and “Superman/Batman”. While I received three of the “Infinite Crisis”, which completed the series, I only got one “Superman/Batman” title, since March. The only one I received was #24 (the series is up to #27). Now, granted, my address did change, but I was quite disappointed. I wrote them early before we moved to change my address–there shouldn’t have been a problem. If I had not paid enough for the year–which may be possible; unlikely, but possible, shouldn’t I have received a notice? An email? Something? Nothing.
Over the years, before I discovered the world of comic book stores, I would pick up a comic and consider subscribing. I am sure that I’m not the only one to have done this. However, I feel lucky that I only recently gave it a try–because a subscription simply proves to be frustrating. In a world of online everything and home delivery, it would seem that DC would figure out how to run a subscription department.
