Lately, I have found myself reading—or interacting, more and more with several different books. And, it is working for me.
In the past, I have tried to keep up with multiple books and the effort usually fell flat until I focused on one at a time then, started to complete them individually—taking a very long time.
My plan is simple:
In the morning, on the way to work, I’ve been listening to a book through Audible.com. I have an app on my Android Smart-phone which I can plug into my car stereo. One can also use an iPod—and sometimes I consider it. But, I’m using my phone right now. This starts my morning off with a reading focus.
After I get to work, I have about 30 minutes to read. So I open my kindle to a non-fiction book that I am working through. This keeps me in a reading mindset—but also gives me a chance to do some work related “Book” reading; other than the many other kinds of reading I do during the day.
Then, I have been ending the day with a fiction book on my kindle—after I go to bed. This is just something that I enjoy for the sheer pleasure of reading.
There is a massive amount of information available today. Our challenge is to discipline ourselves to learn to consume and use this information. The plan I’ve been using has helped me start to get a grasp on what is available to me.
