In her book, “No One Cares What You Had for Lunch,” by Margaret Mason, the author writes about blogging and says;
“You go a few days without posting, and then a couple of weeks, and pretty soon you have months of empty archives. Presto, your blog is stiff as a corpse.”
The same quote has other implications in life as well.
Looking briefly at the archives here on DustyFile.com (on the bottom of the page), you will find that before 2015 my blog was stiff as a corpse. Occasionally, I would feel guilty and write a post, but not more than once a week or so. This blog struggled to find life. Thankfully, this trend all changed for the better and I am enjoying the blog even more.
The same phenomenon occurs in other areas of life as well. For example, it can occur with physical fitness. If you do not work out often, your fitness level will drop, and your weight will go up. Before long, you will go months without working out. For me, I begin to get restless and irritable when I go to long without working out.
Another example of the phenomenon is in our spiritual life–if we do not make a daily habit of opening the Bible and praying on a daily basis, our faith will be small. This is not to say; “God won’t listen to those that don’t pray every day.” However, your neglect will out you in a position that you will not know how to pray if you have not made a habit of praying in the first place. Daily Bible Study and Prayer are necessary to growing in your faith, every if you are only reading small verses and praying small prayers. The consistency of reading and praying through a passage a day is what will build your faith for the future.
In many areas of life, if neglected, we are endanger of drying up , blowing away and becoming a corpse. This year, take time to build some consistency in the areas of life you are most interested.
