Through my running and other physical fitness events that I conduct, I find myself exercising more and more. Through exercise, my speed increases and my muscles get stronger and stronger. Why would that not be the case with our faith?
E.M. Bounds wrote; “Faith is increased by exercise, by being put into use.” If you never have faith in anything, do not expect to have faith in a time that you need it. This is critical to our prayer life. If you never pray for something and invite God to answer some requests, you will never get to the point of seeing God do the mighty things in our world.
This maybe one of the biggest issues in our world today. We have not trusted God for the small stuff, that we could never see God doing big stuff in our world. We have placed our confidence that we can do many things ourselves. We have doctors to perform brain surgery. We have astronauts to walk on the moon. We have computers to calculate the right answers. We believe that we can do it on our own.
Until we find out that we cannot.
We must begin to trust God for the small stuff. This is much more than not stressing the small stuff, this is completely placing that small stuff in God’s hands and moving on. We need to trust God completely in our everyday walk, so when the time comes for us to trust in him for the bigger things…we can trust in him with everything we have.
