Over the last week or so, I have been focussed on the administrative life of comic book collecting. I knew that it was getting close to the time that I needed new boxes–one or two, maybe to give myself some growing room. But, I chose to order five–I that was the only option, but I can’t remember–it doesn’t matter.
On the day the boxes arrived, the plan was to use a couple of the boxes and store the rest–flat. This didn’t happen.
I lined up all of my current boxes of comics. Separated the boxes that where full of separate comic book titles–Batman, Detective Comics, and Action Comics filled one box each. So, I put them off to the side. I took out about ten comic books of these titles to place them in the current subscriptions boxes. And of course, I then separated my current subscriptions into several boxes–five to be exact.
Then, I began to arrange the back issue boxes. These included old Incredible Hulk and X-Men 2099 comic books. Adventures of Superman and my New Teen Titans collection also was included in this–as well as my Star Trek: the Next Generation comic books. Finally, I separated my odds and ends collection–those ones and twos of obscure comic book titles that may or may not add any depth to my collection–but could never part with them.
So, I filled every box. I have room to grow in the current issue boxes and boxes to look at in the miscellaneous boxes. I am excited to open my closet to see the boxes all lined up–full of comics–and organized.
This week, I’ve invested in comic book dividers–so I can know what is really there.

How cool that you’ve got a closet all your long boxes fit into! Mine number 18 and take up half the closet AND a good portion of the bedroom…but that’s cool…there’s always something great to read within arm’s reach!
