After spending a large part of my weekend watching the RootsTech Live Stream, I am inspired to spend more time watching and learning from experts in genealogy. One of the easiest ways to get information from these experts is through the frequent webinars offered over the internet.
There are three places that offer very good webinars for free or subscription.
Ancestry Academy—Ancestry.com offers a growing list of webinars to help you grow in your skills as a Family Historian. Many of these as general in nature, but it does help to have an Ancestry membership to facilitate the growth of your family tree.
Legacy Family Tree Webinars—Legacy Family Tree Webinars has a large catalog of webinars, including 62 free webinars, for learning different skills in genealogy. They offer a wide array of classes from newspapers to technologies.
Dear Myrtle GeneaWebinar Calendars—”Dear Myrtle” has a wonderful blog and resource website that is worth visiting on its own, but she also is continually advancing forward on using technology in genealogy. She has a couple of weekly google+ hangouts each week where she discusses different subject in genealogy. In addition, she holds her own SecondLife talk several times a month. One area that is very important to see on her website is her calendar of upcoming GeneaWebinars. This list will provide you a calendar of all of the webinars that will be happening around the internet in the near future.
These three area are great places to start if you are trying to find out more about genealogy or looking to improve your skills in researching family history. These sites have so much to offer, I need to get started!
