Several weeks ago, I became very interested in the concepts of Field Notes and writing down observations. It is interesting to me because I am more and more impressed by God’s interest in the details.
In Francine Prose’s writing book titled “Reading like a Writer” she states: “If God is in the details, we all must on some deep level believe that the truth is in there, too. Or maybe it is that God is truth: Details are what persuade us that someone is telling the truth.”
God certainly does embody truth. And God is interested in the details. Jesus spoke of how “even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Luke 12:7 ESV) David acknowledged to God;
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” (Psalm 139:13-14 ESV)
God is concerned about the details. So should we.
We have become to accustomed to not “sweating the small stuff” that all we care about are the big stuff. But, if God is in the details—we should be caring about the details. It is in the details that we find God working. It is in a child’s heart, in a cool breeze, in a faint heartbeat of a tiny baby. He is there in the details. We should pay more attention to the details even the most microscopic of all. In the details we will find God.
