Lately, I have been finding much success by having different timers. I think it started when I found my speaking rehearsal timer, which I have been using to fix my tea. But, a new area that I have looked at is writing timers. I found twovery good timers to help writers meet their goals. Both are available on iPhones and iPads.
Wordly-Effortless Word and Time Tracking for Writers: The first writing timer app is “Wordly”. The most difficult thing about this app is finding it in the app store. There are many different apps that use the term “Wordly”. This app is a great app for keeping track of your writing amount goals. It will track the time you write and will also keep track of stats. Each writing session allows the user to input word count and keeps track of time spent on the project. This would work especially tru if you are working on a project or building a habit that requires a certain number of words per day.
Pomodoro Time-Focus Timer and Goal Tracker for work and study: Pomodoro is another app that tracks time on for a particular project. This timer is based on using the Pomodoro time technique. It is an effective timer if you are working on several different timed projects and working for several hours at a time. I like it because it pre-programs the breaks and helps you keep on track with your projects.
While both timers are very effective, I am leaning toward using the Pomodoro for my writing. Most of my writing is not on a per word basis. I write in several different places, setting a timer to get the work done for writing as well as other focused work is a better fit for me. I hope that you will find these apps helpful in your work as you seek to write more and more.
