There are many times I walk into the PX and see chocolate from all around the world. Places where we have Soldiers stationed, some of these chocolates have made it into American distribution plans, but by several accounts some of great selections of chocolate bars on a regular basis. Regularly, I see Lindt, Godiva, and Ritter Sport. But, the chocolate I comeback to time and again is the good old fashioned Hershey’s Chocolate Bar –”The Great American Chocolate Bar”. And, I like it plain—no dark, no almonds, no “Cookies n’ Crème”—I’ll take mine plain.
On the back of the wrapper, there is a statement that reads:
“Every Hershey’s product you’ve enjoyed has helped support children in need through Milton Hershey School. www.thehersheylegacy.com Thank you for making a difference.”
I thought that was pretty cool and I followed the link to find that the Milton Hershey School is actually a very nice school completely paid for through the Hershey Trust Company. So, I can always use that as an excuse to pick up a candy bar! Can’t I?
In all honesty, the Hershey bar is a wonderful treat! At the end of the day, if we have some in the house (obviously, we do tonight!), I like to have a candy bar while watching TV. I can’t read comics and eat a cndy bar, because sometimes the chocolate melts on my fingers. But, chocolate is a great treat while watching TV.
There are many different chocolate bars out there, but one stands above the rest—simply and proudly, the Hershey bar.
