Today is Social Media Day. Launched by Mashable.com in 2010, Social Media Day is “a way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication.” For me, Social Media is a strong means for me to communicate to the world. To be honest, if there was no social media-I would have little or no voice at; and you would not be reading this right now. Besides this blog, which is my home base for all of my social media communication, I have several other accounts where I share my voice and life with the world.
The first of these is Twitter. Twitter is where I spend most of my time and energy. I discuss topics of weather, running, disaster relief, and many other topics from twitter. I can be easily found at twitter.com/chaplainandrews, or if you have a Twitter account, I would love for you to follow me: @chaplainandrews and drop me a note when you do!
The second of my social media accounts is Instagram. From this site, I show a little bit more of my personal life—because after all, I take photos of what is going on “in an instant”. Here you will see many photos of my family, my home, places that I may be traveling to for future blog posts, or simply life in general. I can be found on Instagram at instagram.com/chaplainandrews, or if you have an Instagram account, follow me at: @chaplainandrews.
My newest social media account is Periscope. Periscope is so new—I have yet to figure out what I will be doing there! I hope to put railroad videos, touring videos, and live video of life up there. Be sure to follow me on Periscope, where I am listed as @chaplainandrews and you can learn with me as I go!
There are other social media accounts that I enjoy, but these are my top outlets I use. Each one has truly given me a way to communicate to people I would have never even met. If you are not involved in Social Media—I would encourage you to jump in and let me know how you are doing!
Happy Social Media Day!!
