Over the last several days, I have been singing a song that I heard on the radio. I heard it one the way home yesterday from the race and it really encouraged me. The song is called “I lived” by the band OneRepublic.
The chorus says this:
I, I did it all
I, I did it all
I owned every second
That this world could give
I saw so many places
The things that I did
Yeah, with every broken bone
I swear I lived
Now, for the record—I really try not to break any bones–that would really hurt. But the gist of the song is to live out every second of our short lives. We are not promised tomorrow. The Bible says: “it is appointed for man to die once” (Hebrews 9:27), we don’t know when that may be. Now, if you know Christ—heaven is a whole other adventure—but for the time on Earth; we are to use it wisely and fully.
The challenge is clear—do you “own every second that this world could give”?
First living a full and meaningful life begins with knowing Christ. The full verse of Hebrews 9:27 says: “And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). What good is it to live your life without making the one decision that will define your eternity?
Then once you have settled this decision—live your life! For Christ! Live a life of adventure. Live a life of boldness. Live a life for a purpose—to share with the world, how Christ loves them and can save them from hell.
That is how to live.
