Of all the types of gardening that I enjoy and appreciate it is flower gardening. I am not a big vegetable gardener. Vegetables are not very pretty and once you harvest the fruit, they are not good for much. Flowers, on the other hand, last all season. In fact, my impatiens had full bloom until a couple of weeks ago at the first frost. I was convinced to desire a rose garden when I visited the El Paso Municipal Rose Garden.
When I visited the rose garden in El Paso, I saw how I would love to spend time and energy in the future building a flower garden—particularly when I retire from the Army. Walking through the rose garden gave me an appreciation for the beauty and peacefulness such a garden can bring. Even now, I hope to develop a nice backyard area that is full of flowers, benches, and pathways. Most of my energy needs to be focused on container gardening, so that I may pick it up and take to my next home.
In addition to my desire to grow a flower garden, I also have a strong desire to grow roses. I have always been draw to the challenge of growing roses, but have yet to have the opportunity to grow them. One day, when we stop moving around every three years or so and finally settle down, I plan to try my hand a cultivating roses in my garden.
This is a dream I have. I would love to be able to have a nice, however, small, rose garden to call my own.
