For the Fort Lee Christmas Concert, the Fort Lee Chapels hosted Larnelle Harris.
He sang a song called “I Want to Go (where you are going, Lord”)”. In the chorus, he sang these words;
“You would not bring me this far… to leave me now.”
Immediately, I flashed back to my first deployment—and to the flight into Iraq.
We had left the United States and were somewhere over the English Channel, when the plane hit some pretty harsh turbulence. I was in an aircraft full of Apache Helicopter Pilots and air crews—and they were all silent.
I prayed.
“God, you’ve got me in the Army. I’ve left my family—I’ve left my little girls. I’ve left Monica. I’ve left everything to follow and to do this…Just get me on the ground to do my job.”
So, when I heard this song—I was reminded of God’s plan and that truly he has shown over and over in my life–that He would not bring me all of this way, to leave me when it is most troublesome, when it is most critical, when faith is all I have left.
