As we look to National Hurricane Preparedness Week between 7-13MAY2017, it is important to be reminded that it only takes one. There are many times in life where people do not take something serious until it happens to you–and many times this is too late to prepare. Do not let the possibility of a hurricane catch you and your family off guard.
Every year before the beginning, or right at the beginning of Hurricane Season, the National Weather Service takes time to remind all of us to think about the possibility of a hurricane in our area and what to do if it does occur.
Most of the country is not on the coast, but many of us have family members near the coast and could be affected if a hurricane should make landfall. The truth of the matter is that no matter what the forecast is for the number or even size of the hurricanes for a given year, it only takes one to hit the coast for it to do a massive amount of damage and possibly take lives.
So, it is important that we all consider the importance of the approaching hurricane season and take steps to prepare now, long before a storm is even considered, for the possibility of a storm impacting your home.
