In many cases, when I talk to people about success, someone will make the comment that “it is all about who you know”. And to some degree this is undeniably true.
If you take two people with identical skills and notice where one will succeed and the other will only succeed a certain amount; the difference is in who they know. Yes, part of this is because the one who becomes successful know those in power that helps them get ahead. But, it is also a factor of successful people learning from successful people. They are learning to be wise from the wise.
The Bible says;
Proverbs 13:20
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”(Proverbs 13:20,ESV)
The question we must all ask is “Are we spending time with the right people?” This does not mean that we limit our friends to only the successful, but it means that we consider if the closest friends to us are bringing wisdom into our life or folly.
Are your friends church goers? Do your friends strive to live for Christ?
Or do your friends bring you down and encourage sinful behavior?
Did you choose your friends because they are popular or because they are wise?
Success IS partly who you know. We as Christians must walk with the wise. As we surround ourselves with wise people, this wisdom will begin to rub off on us.
So, choose your friends wisely.
