I am a list maker. I make lots of lists. I have lists in many different forms from written notebook lists to iPhone app lists. I really can’t function with anything, unless I make a list first. There are three major ways that capture my lists.
1. Notebooks: The first way I make lists is by old fashioned pen and paper lists—complete with a check box to fill-in when I have completed the task. I take this to most meetings—if I am away from my notebook, I take an index card with me and move the notes to my notebook later.
2. TODOIST: Another way, I make lists is through my “TODOIST” app on my iPhone. This list syncs with my desktop computer, so I can track and organized different projects that I am working on. I can also space the tasks out so I can better predict what I am trying to do in a given day. These are grouped into personal and work lists and even grouped further into individual projects.
3. AnyList: The third way I keep my lists is through an iPhone app called “AnyList”. AnyList (shown above) does a great job of creating and storing random lists. It could be used for project planning, but works best for creating grocery lists. I share the grocery list with Monica’s account, so if I think of something for her to pick up on her next grocery run, I can write it down and add it to the list. I also put several random lists—for instance there is a list for “What I want to do on leave”, or “What I want to buy someone for Christmas” (typically this gets pretty full in October and November), or “What do I need to pack for Race Day”. All of these items help me to not have think through everything every time I go to the store or get ready for a race or even going camping—the lists are already there.
Yes, I am a list maker. It helps me stay organized and it helps me not worry about all the things I have going on, because in many cases, I already have a list made up.
