Tonight after work, Monica and the kids were at friend’s house because I had planned to be at a meeting. So, for my dinner I was able to visit the McDonald’s on the corner of Ressler Road and Redd Road, here in El Paso.
This is an interesting structure. Originally built as a Chevron Station and McDonald’s Combo, but the Chevron portion closed down recently and the owners removed the gas pumps and the quick mart section. Now, the quick mart stands empty. I was hoping that
they would have converted the store into more seating. But, they have other plans.
I asked the person at the counter–manger maybe?–when they were going to open that section. She said, with excitement, “They are not!” She went on to tell me that the entire place was going to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up in January 2014. I’ve seen this done before, so it is not really a surprise–but she also told me that it will be the largest McDonald’s in El Paso, TX.
The site can manage that size. There is a high school across the street where the school sends at least some of their students out for lunch. This will maintain a base. This is also a very fast growing area–so plenty of people will be visiting. The store will double the size of it’s Playland as well.
It will be interesting to see this one built.
