Every now and then, I hope to give you a look at what my life is like for me. My idea is to have some behind the scenes and personal updates on occasion away from the normal exploration posts that I strive for. Over the last week or so, I made a big change in my work space.
The idea actually came to mind while I was watching an instructional video about blogging. As the presenter was giving her instruction, I noticed her work space. It appeared that the instructor was using an old 1950s era metal breakfast table for her work space. While I envied her work space, I knew we could not afford buying a new table or storing another table, so I began to think through other options. It was then that I remembered that Monica’s desk was recently repaired from some damage during the move to Kansas and we moved her temporary table to the garage. We had originally bought the table prior to her current desk for her work space. So, I brought it in and I have loved the space.
I had been using a writing table that Monica bought for me during my first deployment. It was originally designed to use as a journaling table to use with handwriting journaling notes and personal notes. The way I work has changed in the years following the deployment toward more and more digital work. I still love that writing table, but it was not effective as a computer work space. The new table adds about two square feet of space and is more stable for the computer as well as having legs space that the other did not have.
Now, I am able to have enough room to write on the desk for handwritten notes and have the computer on the same table. I have space for a shortwave radio that is now getting much more use, since it is right in front of me. And, I was able to still use my overhead lamp that bring great light to my work space without using any additional space on the desk. I have very happy to have this new setup as I begin this year in blogging, studying, and research.
