As I left the office one day last week, I decided to walk off post for supper. I was craving a pizza from a local pizza and pasta shop nearby. However, when I walked toward the shop, I noticed that it was crowded with Soldiers and I didn’t want to be crowded. One of the best things about that shop is that it is normally fairly quiet. So, I walked up the street.
As I began looking for another quiet spot, I remembered the NY HotDog Coffee place on the corner. With a name like, NY HotDog Coffee, I could not resist—but probably should have. The shop is actually more like a booth on the side of the street. I went in, already committing to the task—and the blog post. I looked around at the little shop and the tables were clean and the counters were clean. I needed to overlook some of the details around the kitchen, however. This became very apparent when I asked for fries and the cashier/cook pulled a basket of potatoes off the top of the counter where they were sitting-it still wonder how long they were there before she cooked them.
The cashier/cook was very friendly and helpful and fixed my New York Chili Dog and fries. She even let me go sit down while I waited for the fries to cook in the Korean version of a “Fry Daddy”. When the hot dog came to me, I saw that it was comes with what appeared to me as canned chili and a layer of Cheese Wiz. The flavor was ok, but I became a little worried when I read the package.
Luckily, I didn’t read the package until after I was finished. Should I have been more concerned?
All in all, it was a fun memorable experience. Not necessarily one that I want to repeat, but I’m glad I gave it a shot!

It was fine–but after getting accustomed to kimchi and octopus…I think I can a handle a questionable hot dog. 🙂
