In our busy lives, it is easy for us to lose focus and skip over the small things in our life. When we do this, things begin to slowly grow I an unwanted direction.
Futurist Alvin Toffler said; “You’ve got to think about the big things while you are doing the small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction.”
I have a plant in my window that I bought soon after I arrived here in Korea. During the winter months, I neglected it and forgot to rotate it every couple of days. Because I watered it, the plant continued to grow. As a result, the plant has one branch that is growing out all by itself. What was once a well-shaped and balanced plant is now bushy on only one side, while the other is stagnant. The solution to the growth will probably be to prune it back and start over.
Many times in our lives, we neglect the little things in our lives and we have shoots that grow out all by themselves. As with my plant, we become lopsided and ugly. In relationships, many times, we cannot just cut it off and start over. We have to fix it where the problem is by paying attention to the neglected areas. This happens in many other areas as well.
It is important that we pay attention to the small things in our life before they grow into bigger things and begin to cause problems.
