This year for my birthday, Monica ordered from my Amazon Wish List the ACU-RITE Professional Weather Center model 01036. After a couple of days of storms, I was able to set it up yesterday and I am very excited to see how it is working!
I had a Weather Center several years ago that became damaged in a move to Texas, so it has been a couple of year since I have been able to have access to real time, home based weather data. This weather center tracks, Rainfall, Wind Speed and Direction, Barometer Readings, Indoor/Outdoor Temperature, and Humidity.
The indoor console provides a nice colorful display that is easy to understand and has alarms set when certain programmable events take place. This morning it sounded an alarm for rain, as an example. I have set the console to sound alarms for high winds, high or low temperatures, or storms. You can program alarms for humidity, wind chill, heat index, as well as high or low indoor temperatures. These alarms are very help for when storms creep up without awareness of the changes taking place. An interesting feature that the Weather Center has is its connectivity to the computer. Through a USB, the computer can have direct access to the console and, if desired, publish on the internet and track the data from any phone.
There is much that can be done and observed through this Professional Weather Center. I’m not quite sure how “Professional” it is, but for this amateur weather tracker this tool is enough for me to handle—and that is why it is my pick of the week.
