For years, I have enjoyed a nice cup of hot tea. Sometimes more than others, but good tea has always been a pursuit of mine.
To me, Tea represents much of what I want my life to be—slow, light, and simple.
In seminary, I enjoyed a cup of Bigelow Earl Grey each evening at the Fairfield Inn where I worked. This truly introduced me to the enjoyment of slowing down enough to taste the flavor. And to pause for reflection.
I received a gift of Ahmad Tea for Christmas, which revolutionized my passion. So much so, that I wrote the company to ask where I may buy some. This was before the prevalence of the internet, so the correspondence was sent through the Post Office—with a rather quick reply of a free box.
Recently, I have enjoyed Twinings of London teas—both Earl Grey and English Breakfast—which satisfy my day to day cups. Twinings is the easiest to find and available in most major grocery stores.
I do not drink Lipton hot. I would be embarrassed if I were ever seen drinking it—to be honest.
But, I am on a pursuit of tea. This simplicity and the deliberateness of each cup—is a reminder of the power of simplicity and deliberateness in my own life.
