More and more, I find myself wanting to read another book. The problem with a backlog of books is finding the time to read them all.
Everybody has the same amount of time to read, but I am often amazed at how easy it is to let time slip away. So, recently, I began a personal project of trying to read more. I have found a process of three steps to help me read more, other than just being more intentional about reading more.
First, it is important to set a goal. My goal is ambitious, in fact since I set it, I haven’t achieved it. My goal is to read 210 minutes a week, which could be 30minutes a day. The, I track my reading time. I track my reading through a basic app called “Time Me Reading“. It is actually marketed towards school children and parents to track how long these children are reading. I like it because of its simplicity and helps me get closer to my goal. Finally, it is important to be consistent. This is a big challenge that I have. I find myself reading 40 minutes on one day and none the next because of my schedule. When I become more consistent, I can see my read time increase—even if I am just reading for fifteen minutes a day.
These are the three steps that I am using to try to get more reading in. I find that it is slowly chipping away at the number of books I am reading, but there is so much more to read!
