Ever since the kids were little, our family has observed “Quiet Time” between the hours of one and three in the afternoon. What began as the nap time for the children, evolved into a treasured daily ritual.
As our children have long shed their nap times and have home school projects to contend with, we still observe quiet time whenever they are not doing school. This is a time for all of us to go to our rooms, or for me and Monica to go to the living room, to be quiet. We could be reading, they could be listening to music, and sometimes Will plays video games during this time. It is a scheduled time to focus on the individual.
Today, my quiet time has inspired me to blog and to take photos. I long to return to creativity. The weeks of isolation have stripped away many of the “have-tos” in life. Now is a wonderful time to reach back and pull out those hobbies that I have neglected or abandoned—to return to writing, playing, or researching, or listening. There is so much joy in life to enjoy, our quiet times give me to white space to consider these things and motivates me to take again and to move forward again on what I love.
