Last week, I had the opportunity to see the premiere of Young Justice.
I had not been privy to any promotional advertisements or any of the hype. Actually, I found out that the premier would be airing by accident. On the very day that the premiere was supposed to show, I was flipping through television schedules on my DVR–and simply found it there. I read the heading, and I set the DVR to record. I then watched the show on Saturday.
My first impression of young justice was that I definitely want to see the series as it develops. While the premier episode was simply setting the story, I enjoyed what I saw enough to be genuinely interested in the characters and to see how they develop. I do think that Young Justice mirrored the current comic book enough to not be distracting. They took the story of Superboy and his cloning, and made that a focal point of that first particular episode.
I also enjoyed the interaction of the characters between one another—including the comic relief that occurred. Some people do not like slapstick in there comic book characters, but I think that the show is supposed to be fun and having some degree of silliness allows the viewer to relate to the character and simply enjoy the fun that you are having.
I think that the Young Justice first season will be one that I will look forward to watching. I wasn’t completely thrilled at the end of the show, however I do feel that I see where the producers are going and look forward to seeing more.
The series will begin again on the Cartoon Network in January.
