When I finished my run this morning–a four miler–I walked up to my CHU to see a Soldier standing guard about six CHUs away.
Now, what would a Soldier be doing in full battle rattle (or full gear) at 0545 guarding a CHU? No, he wasn’t guarding a prisoner or a VIP.
My first thought was–“What did he do?” Out of respect for the guys privacy and pride, I didn’t ask him.
But, I figure that his NCO developed a punishment to fit the crime.
He may have left his door unlocked.
He may have left part of his gear somewhere.
He may have not been where he was supposed to be.
Who knows. It was kinda funny. But, he could have had it worse–he could have been told to stand outside the DFAC with a sign describing his screw-up.
And, oh by the way, he was only out there about an hour during the coolest part of the day–his NCOs were taking care of him, but there was a need for corrective training.
What ever it was, I’ll bet he won’t do it again.
