I sometimes get these songs in my head.
This morning, as I walked to PT for a short Road March, I began to hear the tune of “Star Trekkin'” in my head. I first heard this song at a Presbyterian Youth Camp at Montreat that I went to one summer—and it has popped in my head off and on since then.
So as I walked to work, I sang to myself:
Star Trekkin’ across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin’ across the universe,
Only going forward ’cause we can’t find reverse.Lt. Uhura, report.
There’s Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there’s Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.Analysis, Mr. Spock.
It’s life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, not as we know it;
it’s life, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it, Captain.There’s Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there’s Klingons on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim.Star Trekkin’ across the universe,
On the Starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk.
Star Trekkin’ across the universe,
Only going forward, still can’t find reverse.
You can read the rest of the song on a lyrics site I found, but what a great song. I’m a big Start trek fan—no, I don’t dress up in costumes. But, I love to watch the movies. This year’s Star Trek was awesome—Monica and I saw it in the English speaking German theater and loved it. Maybe that’s why the song is still in my head.
Monica says
It is a fun song to have in your head.
