Next to enjoying a cup of hot tea, my drink of choice is a bottled soda. Typically, I enjoy a smaller brand name drink but certainly do enjoy drinking the major brands (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew) from a bottle. I have always enjoyed the thought of bottled drinks, but did not actively seek them out until after a party that I attended. The party was held on a gun range, so it was non-alcoholic and the host provided an iced variety of bottled drinks. After this party, I saw how good these bottled drinks can be!
It seems to me that the drinks in bottles are colder and stay colder longer which is a plus when you are looking for a cold drink. With this lower perceived temperature, bottled rinks also have a wider variety of flavors. When you go into the grocery stores and look at the national brands, you typically a similar blend of flavors. You will see different variations on the cola, lemon-lime, or citrus drink. While those all have their place, and I enjoy a frequent Diet Coke, there is a stark difference in the different bottle drink flavors. In the bottle drinks, you can find the Root Beers, Crème Sodas, Fruit Drinks, and the localized variations of the Colas, Lemon-Lime, and Citrus drinks. When I was in El Paso, it was a treat to have a “Mexican Coke”—which was a Coca-Cola made with real cane sugar. There is a difference that bottle sodas can bring. I would love to see more of these on the market and more varieties available. It will be interesting to see how this market expands.
