A couple of weeks ago, I got lost in a small town on my way home from a trip to Kansas City. I did have my iPhone with me and the GPS voice, Siri, was telling me where I needed to go. The problem was that there were so many turns, I would be at the turn before Siri would tell me to turn. I became confused about the direction that I was traveling in and confused about what Siri was trying to tell me what to do. I had to turn everything off and just listen to the iPhone tell me what to do next. I finally had to loop around and go back through the town.
There are times in our lives that life begins to take many unexpected turns. We are faced with hardships, emergencies, and unexpected changes that turn us around so much that we become disoriented and confused. It is during these times that we need to take hold of the words from the book of Proverbs that teach us to: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
What I needed on that trip home was a straight road. What we need in life is also a straight road that can be found in Christ. When you are in a time of confusion and disorientation, place your trust in Christ, and he will make your path straight.
